After enduring a hotter-than-usual 115-degree summer in Phoenix this year, we were all more than ready for a cool family getaway this autumn.

It had been more than a year since we took Roselyn back to the Midwest and now that she is two and has more understanding of the concept of airport travel, we decided that now was the right time to plan a fall visit there to see my parents.

This visit was special for many reasons, as the autumn season is a favorite of my family’s and we hadn’t had the opportunity to celebrate fall together or stay for an extended amount of time since Rosie was born.

Though it never seems like enough time together, we made the most of our week with my parents and were fortunate to get to experience all the autumn activities that I enjoyed growing up:

  1. Apple-picking at the orchard.
  2. Covered bridge visits with family.
  3. Fall festivals.
  4. Feeding dairy cows and goats at the farm.
  5. Mum and pumpkin-picking at the pumpkin patch.

Here are a few of our favorite photos that we took of Rosie enjoying an authentic autumn in Indiana and Ohio on our family getaway this fall:

We had so much fun on our autumn family getaway to the Midwest and can’t wait to go back to my parents’ for our next visit!

Watching Rosie and her excitement and willingness to experience new activities like this make us so proud of her and have us looking forward to our next getaway.

Until then!
